FRIENDSHIP is often built on common interests and for Filipinos Dar, Tim, and Victoria, that common interest is their undying love for volleyball.
Joined at the hip at every volleyball event they can get to, the trio has now reached the pinnacle of the sport they are supporting — the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship live at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Clad in shirts supporting Team Canada and libero Justin Lui, Dar, Tim, and Victoria continue their annual tradition of watching high-level volleyball together.
“We have been supporting [Team Canada] for four years. It is an annual friendship thing, it is so fun.” said Dar.
They love the excitement and action that world class volleyball brings, having also attended other events in the Philippines like the Volleyball Nations League.
The World Championships continue to prove their love for volleyball’s high IQ plays and booming action that leaves arenas shaking and fans on feet.
“It’s really the game. You’ll never know who’s going to win. Even if it’s a top team versus an underdog team, you’ll never know who’s going to win. It’s very exciting, it keeps us on our toes.” Tim said.
In their first live match of the World Championship, they saw Team Canada go up against a Libyan team that returned to the World Championship stage for the first time in over four decades. Despite being made to sweat in four sets, Team Canada was able to eke out the win.
After the match, Dar, Tim, and Victoria enjoyed the invaluable interaction with their favorite players.
They were also able to secure photos and autographs from multiple Canada and Libya players.
“All the interactions that we’ve had with the players the past few years have been so amazing, and it makes it so easy to support them,” said Victoria.
Truly, the event being hosted for the first time by the Philippines has become an avenue for fans to cheer their hearts out.
