The Philippines will receive assistance from the FIVB over the next seven years as the country implements a long-term development plan for its national indoor and beach volleyball teams.

Amid the country’s hosting of the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship, Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) and Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) President Ramon “Tats” Suzara confirmed that the FIVB will continue to support the growth of the sport in the Philippines.

“We’re preparing a seven-year development plan with the FIVB to strengthen our men’s volleyball team, as well as our women’s team. We have strong support from the FIVB and Volleyball World, and of course, the Philippine Sports Commission is also with us,” Suzara said.

“We have a really good collaboration with the FIVB, Volleyball World, and our local volleyball associations,” he added.

During the tournament, Philippine volleyball turned heads with a stunning win over Egypt in the pool phase and a narrow loss to Iran that nearly secured a Round of 16 berth, despite the team being considered heavy underdogs.

Finishing 19th overall among 32 teams, the Philippines showed plenty of promise.

“I’m very happy that people now love men’s volleyball. Before, it was only women’s volleyball that drew big support, but now fans are also embracing the men’s game with all the thrilling rallies and intense action,” Suzara said.

“I look forward to seeing more fans in the coming days and to supporting all the other teams that will compete in the finals,” he added.

Suzara was joined by FIVB President Fabio Azevedo on Monday to unveil the LRT-2 train decorated with the World Championship’s official artwork.
